4th of July!

We headed to our usual 4th of July place on the river this year (here is last year's post so you can see how babyish Poppy looked only a year ago!).  The weather was absolutely beautiful and we had such a great time spending the holiday with our family...

These 2 love flying kites together...and watching the boats together...

and there was some serious beaded-necklace-making going on with all of the cousins...

and then finally, the long-awaited fireworks!!!  She was soooo exhausted by this point, I still can't believe she made it up to see them.  Notice that she has her hand submerged in a cup of water?  That was because of the burn on her finger and thumb that she got after touching her sparkler once it went out.  I was so nervous about her using a sparkler, and both Marc and I told her a million times to not touch the metal part because it would be so hot, but I think we actually just made her curious about it because as soon as it went out, she grabbed the burning hot metal part and now has a couple pretty bad blisters.  Ugh.

And notice how I'm not in any of these pictures?  That's because I feel like an over-stuffed sausage that is about to pop.  It has been soooo hot and humid lately and being large and pregnant is just not a good combo with the heat and humidity.  My ankles are so big and swollen that they literally feel like they are going to crack when I bend them.  Gross, I know.  I am sooo ready to have this kid, and I think he's ready to come out too because he is constantly kicking up a storm.  The nursery is definitely coming along, I think we've even narrowed down which double stroller to get, now we just need a name!!!

The end is so so close and your ankles will feel so much better. No name still?

Bummer about Poppy and the sparkler but I have vivid memories of kids doing that when I was a kid. Eek.
