Partied out

This was a weekend 'o parties. They started as soon as school ended on Friday, with a work happy hour. Then it was onto Tucker's 4th birthday party. Ahoy Matey!!!

Saturday started with a librarian's conference, but the partying didn't end there! It was onto Ava's 1st birthday!
And then straight to Grandma's 90th birthday!
And we even managed to squeeze in Mackenzie's baptism on Sunday!
It was nice to be with family and friends all weekend, but I'm a little partied out. Marc just left for the Sabres game and I have the rest of the night to relax all by myself. Ahhhh.

Nursery pic

I had the day off today, so I decided to finish up painting the trim around the windows in the nursery. It took pretty much all day, but it feels so good to be done! Well, done for now. Marc just ordered the molding for the baseboards. Then it will be more priming and painting. Ugh.

Anyways, here's a picture of what I worked on today, which happens to be my favorite part of the nursery...

Keeping busy

I feel like I've been super busy lately, which is a very good thing. Trying to keep my mind off the state of affairs with US/VN adoptions right now. I have a few Easter-related traditions I do with my mom and SIL's, which include a day of making perogies, dying easter eggs Martha Stewart style (click here to see what we did this year), and a trip to the Broadway Market. I had a book club meeting and we've decided to read "The Other Boleyn Girl", which I'm really looking forward to starting tonight. And next weekend is jam-packed with birthday parties and baptisms, with a librarian's conference mixed in too.

I have a huge pile of quilt squares that I have to scan into my computer and then I promise to start posting them again.

One sunny vacation, coming right up!

Things are not going great in adoption-land right now. This is bringing me a great deal of stress. This is also bringing Marc a great deal of stress. Things are pretty stressful in our house right now. We can't really do anything to eliminate this stress. Except for booking a rediculously cheap, week-long vacation to Florida. Ah, just what the doctor ordered. Sunshine. Margaritas. Sandy beaches.

Gotta go - I only have about a month to get this bod ready for a bathing suit!

I will show you love

Earlier this year I heard this song on Kristin's blog. It's a beautiful song that speaks to me in so many ways and lately I just can't get enough of it.

Back to the quilt!

Thanks for all the comments, emails and phone calls of support! I'm feeling much better already- I think I was just having a bad week. For the most part, I think I have a really optimistic attitude about the whole timeline for this adoption. Most days, I think, "This is all happening for a reason, I will meet my daughter when I am supposed to." And usually, that works for me. On the days that it doesn't work, I usually only vent to Marc. Poor Marc. But anyways, onto better and brighter things... I have a good feeling that this week is going to be an exciting one for a couple of families in the adoption world. My fingers are crossed, as always.

I realized this weekend that I haven't been posting quilt squares lately. Marc and I went to get the last of our fabric yesterday and I think we officially have exactly 100 squares! (I'm going to do a final count tonight). This batch of quilt squares come from the ladies that my mom works with. I couldn't believe that they all took the time to participate in Poppy's quilt. It really meant a lot to me that they did!
