Happy Birthday Sam!

Sammy is officially 2!  I can't wrap my mind around the fact that I am now the proud mama of a 2 and 5 year old!!!  Time is flying around here!  We are packing up for our annual camping trip (even though it is pouring out right now) and I just wanted to post these birthday pics before we left.  Once things calm down I will do a proper birthday post filled with all sorts of fun facts about this little character - I promise!

{Three of my favorite people!}

Sammy is obsessed with trucks, so of course we had to give him a dump truck cake for his birthday!

Then a few days later it was party #2 at our house.  Sam was so excited to play on the almost-completed playhouse...

I wasn't originally planning on it, but I couldn't resist doing the same dump truck cake for this party too - he loved it so much (and it was sooo easy)!

Sam got tons of truck toys and he has been playing with them all non-stop ever since!

More to come soon!

We've had an absolutely exhausting week.  As exhausting as it was, it was also tons of fun.  Well, it started off not-so-fun.  It started off with two kids knocked out with hand, foot and mouth disease.  Yuck!  Out of all the little bugs and viruses we've ever had around here, this was the absolute worst!  They both had fevers and sores inside their mouths which made them soooo uncomfortable.  Luckily they both had it for only about 2 days and then made quick recoveries...

While Poppy was still snoozing on  the couch, Sam and I were busy in the kitchen making Marc's birthday cake.... (Happy Birthday Marc!)

................

Then Sunday night, Poppy and I packed our bags to spend the week in Rochester.  First thing Monday morning was Poppy's first day at Camp Chin-Gu, which is a Korean cultural camp.  What an amazing experience!

Poppy spent the week learning to sing songs in Korean, cook traditional dishes, tae kwon do, Korean drumming and fan dances, how to speak and write Korean and so much more.  This was all taught by a combination of Korean adoptees and a group of Korean college students who flew to the US to spend the week at camp.  Poppy was pretty shy and overwhelmed and first, but I could tell that all week she was really taking it all in.  She has been talking about it non-stop since she came home and is already talking about how excited she is to go back next year.

..............

As much as Poppy loved being at camp, she was definitely ready to get home and be reunited with daddy and Sam...
(and she had a back-up of patients that needed to be seen by the "doctor")

Here's an example of one of the funny things Poppy learned at camp.  Sunday morning during breakfast Poppy says, "I learned how they fold towels in Korea that make funny sheep hats and I can show you guys if you want.  They're called jjimjillbang"  Along with a little help from good ol' google, we were able to recreate these...  (jjimjilbang is actually what they call the spa's in Korea where they wear their towels like this!)

Then Saturday afternoon we headed back to Rochester for Marc's sister's wedding!

It was a beautiful day for a perfect wedding.  Poppy was so excited that she was able to come to the wedding with us and see Aunt Jeanna look like a princess.

The wedding was held at an estate with these beautiful old gardens.  Poppy and Sam had a blast exploring and then Poppy found a hula hoop and the rest is history...

..................

Sunday was the 4th anniversary of the day Poppy flew home from Korea.  4 years since our lives changed in the most amazing way possible.  We spent the day playing together, watching videos of Poppy's homecoming and then eating tons of Korean food.  It was a perfect day spent with my perfect little family...

Oh, and on the way home from our Korean dinner, Marc took us to a spot where you can watch the planes land and take-off at the airport.  Sammy, who is obsessed with all things that have engines, was beside himself with excitement.  I think we'll be hanging out here a lot in the near future...

We've been spending time in our "fancy pool" lately.  The kids are loving it this year!

..............

We've also been eating lots of ice cream lately.

and riding trains at the zoo...

...........

Last weekend we baked some cookies to deliver to the fire house in our neighborhood.  Don't be fooled by the look on Sam's face, he was beyond thrilled to be so close to the fire trucks.

And Poppy is taking swim lessons at the public pool this year.  She absolutely loves it and has been known to wear her swim goggles even during the day in the house...

...............

And of course we had a great time at our annual 4th of July celebration.
