Poppy's traditional 1st birthday (Tol)

Can you even believe how adorable she looks in these pictures?! They came in the mail earlier last week and I have not stopped staring at them since. She is at her traditional Korean 1st birthday dressed in her hanbok. Part of the tradition is to place different objects in front of the baby and whichever one she chooses first indicates what she will be when she grows up. As you can tell from the pictures, Poppy chose the pencil, which means she will be a scholar! I am so incredibly grateful to her foster mother for giving her a beautiful birthday party and for sending us the pictures. Unexpected surprises like this make the wait for her to come home a little more bearable.

I just learned that the "game" with the different objects is called a Doljabee table from my yahoo group. Sounds like you have one smart little gal! I love her Hanbok. Its really pretty.

That is so cool! It's so nice that her foster mother celebrated her birthday with her in a traditional way. I'm sure that will be something that will mean a lot to her later.

She looks so adorable in her traditional outfit. I know it must be hard that you weren't able to celebrate her first birthday with her, but it looks like she got a lot of love on her special day and it's so wonderful that they sent you photos of the day so you could share in it to.
