Last Saturday, Marc and Poppy packed up the car and met their cousins to go camping for the day.  This is the same place we all went camping last year and we're looking forward to being able to go as a family of 4 together next year.  Anyways, as you can see from the following pictures, Poppy had a blast and I'm so glad she was able to go for the day.

Both Marc and Poppy had such a great time.  Poppy has been making pretend campfires all over the house and pretending to roast marshmallows, while she warns me to not get too close to the fire because it's hot.

......................................

And now onto this character, Sam.  He's doing really good.  Night time is slowly getting a little bit easier.  Marc went back to work last week and being home with a newborn and a 3 year old by myself has been, interesting.  Luckily for me, Poppy is doing such a great job being a big sister and she really does help me out all day and is super patient with the fact that most of my day is spent nursing Sammy-boy.

And I'm pretty sure Poppy and Sam are conspiring against me during naptime.  Lately, as soon as I put Poppy down for her nap, Sam needs to nurse.  As soon as he's done, I go to check on Poppy who is usually still not sleeping.  I go in and tell her to go to sleep, Sam starts crying so I go and rock him until he settles down, go check on Poppy who is hopefully sleeping by then, Sam starts crying, as soon as I get him to sleep, Poppy is up asking where her snack is.  Don't they understand that I'm the one who really needs the nap?!

Nursing has been going pretty well, other than the fact that Sam is what we call a "lazy nurser".  He falls asleep as soon as he sees my boob.  And I have to continue to wake him up the entire hour it takes him to nurse.  But the faces he makes while he is nursing makes it all worth it...

Does that napping picture look familiar to anyone?  Remember this one from the first few months that Poppy was home?

I'm getting all emotional just looking at that picture.  Just when I thought I was gaining back control of my hormones.

We gave Sam his first bath the other night.  He was screaming most of the time that we were washing him, but was silent and had a look of bliss whenever we showered him with water.

This next pic is from last night.  Marc and I are slowly figuring out a few interesting tricks to settle him down when he starts fussing.  Seconds before I took this picture he was screaming.  The only thing I did was gently brushed his hair with a baby brush.  It was instant silence and then he pulled his hands together like that and fell asleep.  My silly little boy.

And notice the baby rat in the background?  It's a gift from his big sis.  And you might be wondering about the color of his crib that is also in the background.  Well, the nursery is finished, and I absolutely love it.  Except for a few things that I didn't measure correctly and need to be exchanged (like a giant light fixture and the world's largest dresser).  And we don't have any artwork on the walls yet either.  So once all the final details are done, I'll post pics!

First, love all the pics of Poppy camping!

Next, sigh, what a cutie Sam is! I just love all of his expressions! (I honestly never knew a baby could have that many faces) And that last photo of him is precious.

Now hurry up and finish that nursery! ;-)

Sounds like you are one busy (and tired) lady. Let me know when things settle a bit and we can stop by to visit!

Camping! I am super jealous as I want to go and my hubby wants nothing to do with it. Grrr. Maybe Marc can talk to him.
Sam has such great expressions and poses. Keep the photos and the updates coming .

I love ALL these photos! You have the cutest two little ones (next, of course, to mine)!
The daddy napping pics are so wonderful. And I am so, so happy to hear that Poppy continues to be mommy's little helper.
Hang in there during nap time. Fingers crossed that it gets MUCH better :)

Yeah for camping! I keep saying we are going to take Alex but I'm afraid of the whole sleeping in a tent thing with a toddler...
And thank you for sharing all those pictures of Sam! He's so tiny! I love the "smile" shot - made me smile :)
